On May 18, 2006, Mr. Santos was joined with Republican Trial Lawyers from across the nation in Washington D.C. to participate in lobby day. Mr. Santos wanted to bring to Capital Hill the Nevada story and how so called “tort reform” has crippled victims rights in Nevada when it comes to medical malpractice claims. Mr. Santos either met with or left material with the following congressional leaders: Staff of Senator John Ensign (NV), COS of Congressman Jon Porter (NV), Congressman Devin Nunes (CA), Congressman John Doolittle (CA), COS of Congressman Darrell Issa (CA), Staff of Senator John McCain (AZ), Staff of Senator George Allen (VA), and Staff of Senator Elizabeth Dole (NC). The efforts of the Republican trial lawyers to bring this message to Republican elected representatives will result, in time, with an understanding and appreciation for our judicial system and the need to have a system which protects all members of our society and provides equal access to justice.
